Dr. Ence obtained a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Texas School of Medicine in San Antonio, Texas. He also completed an internship and orthopedic surgery residency at the Medical University of South Carolina and a hand and upper extremity fellowship at the University of Virginia. Throughout his career, Dr. Ence has observed how the inability of patients to use their hands due to degeneration or trauma leads to a decreased quality of life. Dr. Ence chose to become a hand surgeon to help others regain their independence and improve their quality of life.
